This is a disorder that impairs social interaction. It is the most serious of all types. Also known as true autism, this disorder results in stereotyped behaviors, interests, and activities.
Commonly referred to as atypical autism, this is less serious than true autism. People with this type of autism tend to perseverate, think literally, and not understand humor.
Characterized by impairments in social interaction, this is the least serious of all types. Children with this disorder show little, if any, general language delay.
